Twin Watchers of the Sleeping World is a protective dream catcher created to stand sentinel through the night. At its center is a hand-carved bone bead depicting twin birds resting on a flower — symbols of partnership, vigilance, and fierce devotion. These birds represent guardians who do not sleep, whose eyes pierce darkness and whose beaks and talons are ready to defend the dreamer from unseen harm.
An evil eye bead rests beneath the carved birds, acting as an ancient ward against malevolent forces. The piece is crocheted over two metal rings, forming a layered, diorama-like structure that echoes the idea of seen and unseen worlds overlapping. Hand-dyed wool and recycled sari silk create a vibrant, living surface rich with texture and movement.
The hanger and tassel are macramé hemp, grounding the piece in earth energy. An African trade bead on the hanger carries the weight of humanity’s shared history, while an African sand bead on the tassel anchors the piece in ancestral time and protection. This dream catcher was made not as decoration, but as a guardian.
