Rooted Dream was created in 2023 as part of my Dreamcatcher series, a body of work exploring memory, symbolism, and protection through fiber. This ornament is free-form crocheted around both a wood and a metal ring, creating a strong yet organic circular structure. Hand-dyed wool yarn forms the front, back, and sides, while also shaping the tree—a recurring symbol in my work representing roots, family, lineage, and growth.
The intentional space between the front and back creates a diorama effect, inviting the viewer to look into the piece rather than simply at it. A macramé hemp tassel extends downward, finished with a porcelain bead that adds weight, movement, and quiet elegance.
This small piece carries the same symbolic language as my larger works—ancestry, resilience, and the unseen threads that hold us together.
