Messenger (2024)
I move between.
I carry what is spoken and what is not. I travel through air and body, through weight and lift. I am held low and sent upward at the same time.
I do not decide what is heard. I only deliver.
Description from the Artist
I created Messenger as part of my Third Eye Series.
The three inch pendant is built from hand dyed wool using freeform crochet, forming a layered circle around a lampwork glass focal bead. The cord is kumihimo made from hemp and sari silk.
Below the pendant, the piece extends into three strands with serpentine, trade beads, hematite, and carved horn birds. The materials carry weight and movement together. The birds sit low in the piece, lifting the messenger into the wind. The hematite grounds everything back into the body.
Messenger is about transmission. It is about when truth is spoken and whether the message is received.
