Sol Cycle: Summer is a freeform crochet fiber artwork created in 2023 as part of Sol Cycle, a four-piece series representing the seasons. Each piece contains a sun, a timeless symbol of continuity, life force, and return.
Summer represents intensity, abundance, and emotional saturation. It is the season of fullness, when growth peaks and energy runs high. Color, texture, and movement are layered densely, reflecting a time when life is loud, demanding, and fully present.
Originally displayed as part of the complete Sol Cycle installation, this work is now offered individually, allowing Summer to stand on its own while remaining part of the greater seasonal rhythm.
Materials and Process
Freeform crochet constructed using a layered combination of wool, yarn, thread, and textured novelty fibers. Built intuitively without a pattern, the piece was shaped through color density, tension, and material response. Dense stitching and saturated hues emphasize heat, motion, and abundance within the circular form.
