Sol Cycle: Spring is a freeform crochet fiber artwork that I created in 2023 as part of Sol Cycle, a four-piece series representing the seasons. Each work contains a sun, a familiar symbol of continuity, resilience, and return.
Spring represents renewal, emergence, and forward motion. After the stillness of winter, color returns, textures multiply, and growth begins without certainty or symmetry. The sun remains constant, guiding transformation even when the path forward feels unpredictable.
Originally exhibited as part of the full Sol Cycle installation, this piece is now offered individually, allowing Spring to stand on its own while remaining part of the greater seasonal rhythm.
Materials and Process
Freeform crochet constructed with a layered mix of fibers including wool, yarn, thread, and textured novelty materials. Built intuitively without a pattern, the piece was shaped through color, tension, and symbolism. Floral and organic forms were added to emphasize growth, abundance, and emergence within the circular structure.
