Purple Mountains - Freeform Crochet - 2023

I rise.

My greens and purples intertwine. beneath a single sun.

I hold the tension of division, and the hope for unity.

I am a reminder that what connects us is stronger than what pulls us apart.

Purple Mountains was created in 2023 during a time of deep political and ideological division in the United States. Referencing the line “purple mountain majesties,” the work uses blended greens and purples to symbolize opposing identities existing within the same landscape. A warm sun crowns the piece, representing shared values and collective responsibility. This work is a quiet plea for unity. It is an acknowledgment that, as the forefathers warned, divided we fall.
