Purple Mountains was created in 2023 during a time of deep political and ideological division in the United States. Referencing the line “purple mountain majesties,” the work uses blended greens and purples to symbolize opposing identities existing within the same landscape. A warm sun crowns the piece, representing shared values and collective responsibility. This work is a quiet plea for unity. It is an acknowledgment that, as the forefathers warned, divided we fall.
