Silenced is a needle-felted spirit mask that explores trauma, truth, and enforced silence. The eyes are fierce with intelligence and awareness. They are eyes that have witnessed tyranny, both personally and collectively. This figure represents someone who has endured harm from individuals and from society itself, yet has survived by accepting the existence of evil and growing stronger through that awareness.
The ears contain sky and clouds, symbolizing deep thought, higher reasoning, and constant analysis. This is a mind that questions, absorbs new information, and adjusts its understanding as truth unfolds. Thought remains free, even when speech is not.
The mouth, however, is covered. From an early age, this being was told not to speak of what she experienced. She was labeled too different, too strange, too intense. When she spoke truth, she was called a liar. When she persisted, she was dismissed as unstable. Over time, her throat closed. Her voice disappeared. This was not from lack of truth, but from the consequences of speaking it.
Silenced is a portrait of survival through containment.
