I’m called Sunshine, and I was created to represent the strength found in everyday light. I’m 13 inches
tall and 6 inches wide, with a needle-felted face and beard and a wet-felted sunrise hat. All of my wool
was locally sourced, then washed, picked, dyed, and shaped completely by hand. I come from a time in
my maker’s life when everything felt uncertain. During the pandemic, she walked her dogs in the forest
every morning before work. No matter what the news said, nature kept moving. The sun kept rising.
When her mom became sick, she kept walking. When her son died, she kept walking. Even when her
world fell apart, the sunrise showed up anyway. And that simple consistency—light returning every
morning—kept her going. I represent that sunrise: steady, compassionate, and protective. I’m a
reminder that even when life is at its hardest, something dependable still shines.
