Malevolence Averted is a symbolic dreamcatcher rooted in ancient protective traditions. The main circle features a radiant sun pattern surrounding a large, old African trade bead — historically crafted and worn as a defense against malevolent forces and spiritual intrusion.
A second, smaller oval below holds a carved owl, a timeless symbol of vigilance, wisdom, and night-watching. The final antique African trade bead at the base grounds the piece, sealing the protective descent from sky to earth.
This work is both fiber art and talisman — a boundary, a threshold, and a quiet act of refusal against harmful spirits.
