Held in Stone is a wearable fiber sculpture from my Broken Heart series. The outer heart appears stone-like. It is weathered, dense, and shaped by time. Embedded within it is a preserved blue inner heart, fractured like glass.
This piece speaks to the way sorrow accumulates around vulnerability. The fractures remain visible, but they are supported. Strength does not erase what broke, it forms around it.
Though it reads as stone, the pin is made entirely of wool and is nearly weightless, creating a quiet contrast between appearance and reality.
