Triskele Cap - Wet-Felted Wool - 2025

I turn, return, and turn again.
My three spirals speak of motion—past, present, and what is still becoming. I do not rush or insist on meaning; I simply move. I sit just above the ears, light and warm, reminding you that change does not have to be heavy. Some things exist to keep energy flowing, not to be solved.

This hat centers on the triskele, an ancient symbol representing continuous motion, balance, and the interconnection of cycles. It is often interpreted as mind, body, and spirit, or past, present, and future. The three swirling arms move across the crown, with colorful spirals filling the spaces between, emphasizing flow rather than symmetry. The rolled edge creates a mini brim and a clean finish. This piece was an exploration of movement and energy more than storytelling, allowing the symbol itself to lead the design.

Symbolism

The triskele is one of the oldest known symbols, found in ancient Celtic and pre-Celtic cultures. It represents:

  • Movement and forward momentum

  • The balance of three forces (often interpreted as past–present–future or mind–body–spirit)

  • Cycles of growth, change, and return

In this hat, the triskele is paired with playful spiral forms, reinforcing the idea that motion does not always need direction—sometimes it exists simply to keep life from becoming stagnant.
