I created Solar Origin Skullcap as a reflection on humanity’s oldest gesture, looking upward toward the sun and asking where we come from. The bright solar crown is inspired by prehistoric rock carvings, symbols made by early humans who recognized the sun as life giver, rhythm keeper, and mystery. The spiral was needle textured to create movement, suggesting both cosmic rotation and the unfolding of existence itself.
This brimless skullcap fits a 23 inch head and rests over the ear, sitting close and grounding. Hand dyed merino wool allowed heat based color to emerge naturally through felting. Purple and hot pink frame the human face while the radiant solar crown turns upward, symbolizing connection between human life and the greater universe. We are not separate from the cosmos. We are formed from it. We are made of star matter.

Symbolism
The sun represents origin, continuity, and life force across human history. Prehistoric solar carvings reflect early spiritual awareness and recognition of cosmic order. The spiral symbolizes motion, evolution, and unfolding existence. Purple and hot pink surrounding the face represent human consciousness emerging from cosmic heat. The upward facing sun affirms unity between human life and the universe. We are made of star matter and remain part of the cosmic cycle.
