Inherited Ruin is a hand-felted wool landscape that explores generational trauma and the ways unresolved pain can pass quietly through a family for centuries.
At the center stands an ancient ruin. It is no longer alive, yet still powerful enough to constrain the heart. Tendrils extend upward, tightening around a red heart, symbolizing inherited emotional wounds. In the foreground, grass connects the scene to the living earth, while a sunrise breaks across the horizon beneath a blue sky.
The sunrise represents choice. It the moment when awareness creates the possibility of change. This work is about leaving the ruins of past sorrow where they belong - in the past.
