Pierced Compassion (2025)

$185.00

I rise with the sun and bleed into the earth.

I am compassion, suspended in a blue sky at dawn. My red form is pierced by the branches of a growing tree, its limbs reaching upward through my center. Blood runs down the trunk, staining bark and soil. I ache not from cruelty alone, but from indifference.

I hang above a rocky landscape beneath an orange sunrise, watching humanity struggle with lessons it has been given for millennia. I am wounded, yet I remain open. Even pierced, I continue to give.

Look Up - 2024

I created Pierced Compassion as a continuation of my broken heart series in 2025. This piece carries both landscape and theology within it. The rocky earth, blue sky, and orange sunrise frame a suspended red heart. A tree grows upward, piercing that heart, and the blood flows downward along its trunk.

The imagery is a deliberate nod to the crucifix narrative. The heart represents compassion itself. The piercing is the sorrow brought by the darkness of humanity. We have walked this earth for thousands of years, and yet we still struggle to understand what it means to live with mercy. The earth absorbs what we spill. The land witnesses everything.
